Logicube Used to Backup, Restore, and Update

200 employees
Manufacturer of Metal and Plastic household fixtures and Injection molding equipment

  1. The customer has 148 PC's in the office, 51 Dell's running 98, 46 Compaq's running 2000, and 43 Gateway's running XP. 4 of the XP's show the blue screen of death because of corrupted boot sectors. They also have 20 Toshiba laptops running ME, 2 Linux servers and one RAID backup system.

The Engineering department is getting 22 new Dell PC's running XP and some specialized software. On the factory floor they have 5 UNIX servers running production equipment. They also manufacture injection-molding equipment using a patented technology. Shipping with these systems are Windows 2000 servers with a USB interface in a specially designed case enclosure that cannot be opened.
  2. The current plan is to migrate all PC's to XP and to make sure the workers have all of their data on the systems. The employees are supposed to back up all of the data they need to the server but the Accounting and Operations department's PC's are not organized. Some of the original data is left on their systems and has not been backed it up to the server.
  3. Last year the plant was shut down because of a storm which damaged the UNIX servers controlling the manufacturing equipment. They need to back up the hard drives on the servers so if this happens again they can just place new hard drives in the systems.
  4. They also need to duplicate the Window's 2000 servers that ship with the injection molding equipment. The Engineering department also needs to do a wipeout to the Department of Defense 5220-M standard so no one can recover proprietary data from the Hard drives of their systems.
  5. The Engineering department also needs to copy the load to the 22 new Dell PC's. Recently the company was attacked by an unknown hacker. The IT department wants to make a copy of all of the specific loads running on the different PC's and place them all on one 200 gigabyte hard drive so they can get the systems up and running again in case they are hacked again.

    a) The customer using our Solitaire Turbo and USB adapter is able to roll out the new systems running XP to each PC in a matter of minutes through the USB interface. Also they can back up the systems using our "Master Manager" option to place 24 PC loads from the accounting and operations departments onto one hard drive. This way they can hook up the Solitaire Turbo with the back-up copy using the USB adapter and look for their original data at their leisure. The customer can also put all five different PC load's onto one hard drive with the "Master Manager" option and then use the "Selective Partition" option to re-image the PC's to dissimilar hard drives of any gigabyte drive size in less than a minute without slowing the network. The customer can make backup copies of the Linux servers and the Raid system to get production up and running in case of the virus attack.

    b) The customer can also back up copies of the UNIX servers and store the hard drives in a tornado/flood proof safe. They can also use our "Copy and Verify" feature, which will make an exact copy of the drive while verifying that the drive is free of bad sectors. They can do this when duplicating the Window's servers that ship with the Injection molding equipment.

    c) Using our optional DOD wipeout feature the customer can wipeout the hard drives to the DOD standard and be assured that no information will go to the competition. and then using the "repair drive" feature the local high school will receive good hard drives with their donated systems.

  6. The customer chose Logicube rather than the competition because of the speed of duplication, and the ability to duplicate to dissimilar drive types, sizes and manufacturers. The Logicube unit is the only one that will create multiple bootable master drives with up to 24 different loads all on one hard drive. And the unit will copy multiple partitions to the target drives.

The Logicube unit is the only one on the market that will copy through the USB interface and also copy only files and folders between drives. The Turbo also provides diagnostics on the drive. The "recover data" feature and "repair drive" feature is vastly superior to anything on the market. Also the Logicube unit will work with a much larger variety of hard drives and special diagnostic partitions. Finally, the unit is simple and easy to use and includes free lifetime software updates and free phone technical support.

The customer is very happy with their purchase of the Solitaire Turbo. This solution has increased the productivity of the company and saved hundreds of man-hours of IT support while reducing production time. It is also the main element of any disaster recovery plan.
